Common challenges in PhD research

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventMembership of an organizing committee of a conference or seminar

Centre for Higher Education Research and Evaluation (CHERE) at Lancaster University and Higher Education in Transition (HET) research group at Tampere University have jointly organised a knowledge exchange event about challenges that doctoral researchers commonly encounter.
Three PhD supervisors (Dr Johanna Annala, Dr Vesa Korhonen and Dr Nataša Lacković) will reflect on some of the key challenges, that, from their experience, doctoral researchers commonly grapple with, whether this is academic writing, conceptualisation, voice, positionality or something else that strikes them. We hope that this will provide a fertile ground for questions and discussion. The event is introduced by doctoral researcher Vesna Holubek (HET), followed by a brief presentation of selected challenges by each supervisor. Each presentation is followed by a related Q&A and doctoral researchers’ group talks.
