Contributors: Joutsenlahti Jorma / AbstractIn my presentation I’ll describe what kind of exercises and what kind of content solutions there are in mathematics textbooks grades 1-6 in Finland. The results are based on my and Dr. Jorma Vainionpää’s research project with our students during years 2005-2008 at University of Tampere. We have studied exercises from three points of views: cognitive demand, structure and is it an open or a closed task. We analyzed content solutions in three textbooks which were from different publishers. We found some problematic differences in marking (calculation algorithms) and in definitions of concepts.
