Dr. Müller will present mathematical methods for identifying chemicals, foods, etc. based on the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) they emit. For measuring these VOCs we are using ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) and differntial mobility spectrometry (DMS) devices.
He will briefly explain these devices and their differences. In the last part of his talk, he will discuss the challenges of using IMS and DMS for the classification of VOCs and present a concept for overcoming these challenges.
