Description

The Finnish Family Research Conference 2020 focused on the future of the family: what future families will be like in general and, more specifically, what the future may hold for families in Finland, where the birth rate is declining, the diversity of families is easily perceived as a threat, and global climate change is a daily matter of concern. We asked what has happened to our hitherto exemplary Nordic country, whose family welfare policy was designed to facilitate the combination of work and family; what impact global climate change is likely to have on families in the future; what the increase in the diversity of cultural ideologies means for daily family life; and what meanings future generations will attach to parenthood and childhood. The Finnish Family Research Conference 2020 was held as an online conference on 19–20 November 2020.
