The Finnish Institute in the Middle East (FIME), Svenska litteratursällskapet i Finland (SLS) and the University of Helsinki, The panel discussion will focus on the present state of the conflict and its impact on the life of people in Palestine today. A century of failing to reconcile the crisis includes a series of diplomatic endeavours and masses of displaced Palestinians. Jørgen Jensehaugen from the Peace Research Institute Oslo has published extensively on the Arab-Israeli conflict and will illuminate the political development of the crisis. Tiina Järvi has in her research focused on Palestinian refugees and will share her views on the effects the conflict has had on Palestinian people. The discussion will be moderated by Jukka Huusko, journalist at Helsingin Sanomat specialised in the Middle East.
