Tampere University researchers have, together with Wirepas, been involved in developing a new connectivity standard for 5G Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. The Radiocommunications Sector (ITU-R) of the International Telecommunications Union adopted DECT-2020 New Radio (NR) as the first non-cellular 5G technology to be part of the 5G standard family in October.
