Building part specific embodied carbon dataset for residential buildings in Finland

Description

The dataset contains embodied carbon estimates of residential building archetypes of Finnish housing. Housing types are divided into two core categories: blocks of flats and one dwelling houses. The archetypes represent these housing typologies built at decadal intervals from the 1940s through the 2010s; the archetypes utilized are sourced from Kaasalainen et al. (2026). The following dataset estimates the amount of carbon emitted during the construction of the housing archetypes, based on current carbon emissions data from the Finnish national emissions database, CO2data (Finnish Environment Institute, 2026). Because the embodied carbon dataset is underlaid by the material data presented by Kaasalainen et al. (2026), the structure is informed by the existing dataset. The OpenDocument Spreadsheet (ODS) file is divided into the following sheets: description, data_building, data_building_level, data_building_part, data_building_subpart, and co2_values. Each data sheet contains material-specific volumes (m3), embodied emissions (kgCO2-eq), and embodied emissions intensity (kgCO2-eq/floor area), in addition to the basic characteristics of the corresponding archetypes.
