Organisation profile

Tampere Wireless Research Center (TWRC, "Tampere Wireless") conducts high-impact basic and applied research in wireless communications, with a focus on developing advanced data communication and networking concepts, signal processing methods, and tools for electrical and electromagnetic communication systems. The center also explores novel concepts, algorithms, and hardware for radio positioning and radio-based sensing, contributing to the technological foundations of 5G, 6G and beyond, as well as positioning systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and the Industrial Internet. TWRC is an internationally recognized, multidisciplinary unit comprising ten professors and approximately one hundred researchers, with application areas spanning mobile communication networks, aerial and space systems, and defense technologies.
