CCC-Catapult (Challenging the Climate Crisis: Children's Agency to Tackle Policy Underpinned by Learning for Transformation)

Project Details

Description

CCC-CATAPULT challenges climate indi?erence or extremism by co-creating new knowledge through the ‘eyes and ears' of children, teachers and other educators on how they make sense of their lives in relation to climate complexity. This multidisciplinary project uses mixed methodologies. Overarching areas of inquiry are: how do children, teachers and other educators understand the value-action gap in tackling the climate emergency? What might legitimate transformation look like in relation to reducing the gap? Young European's climate related social norms, worldviews, possible tensions and anxieties, as well as cultural meaning formation are examined through a survey, and visions for transformed climate-focused education are co-created in each context. The Finnish case study focuses on conceptualizing and modeling culturally responsive and worldview aware climate education through participatory research in educational contexts marked by cultural and worldview diversity.
