The cognitive and non-cognitive outcomes of inclusive versus special education placement: a quasi-experimental follow-up study

This longitudinal research aims to follow the development of cognitive and non-cognitive competencies of students placed either in special classes or inclusive classes in general education. The main objective of the study is to compare the outcomes of the different placement option as well as the effect of class composition for students with special educational needs as well as for their peers. The research will be conducted in nationally selected schools as a 3-year follow-up study focusing on students in elementary school grades 4 to 6. The student data will be gathered using online portal developed for this purpose and which also provides feedback for students and their teachers to support students individual learning process.
