Abstract
Finland has been known for its political neutrality. In the post-cold war era, it strengthened its military alliance with Europe, but continued to be hesitant to join the NATO. Finland has now changed its position not only because it aims to protect its national security, but also it hopes to protect its own freedom to make foreign-policy decisions in the future, without any pressure from Russia
