Abstract
In this paper we present work on a REST-API-based Service Oriented Architecture. Web-based services communicate with each other using the HTTP protocol. Services are hierarchically composed to form different service tiers. Furthermore, we present some empirical results regarding latency and performance in the context of our Factory of the Future Lab for flexible, reconfigurable manufacturing solutions.
