Abstract

Sustainable development requires new innovative ways of doing
business. Now, a coherent and explicit concept for circular economy
constitutions is still missing. This study aims to cover the research gap of
scattered circular economy constitution terminology by discovering how the
shared essence of different innovative circular economy constitutions can be
conceptualized. The issue is considered by defining and exploring the concept of “circular economy center” based on a literature review of 29 articles. Based on the review, circular economy center is defined as an entity, where several actors cooperate in the form of side stream exchanges. It is further proposed that the primary task of the center is to offer and maintain industrial symbiosis and the economic benefits it enables. Very often this demands new innovative ways of doing and managing circular economy related business.
