Abstract

Like work on other pragmatic phenomena, corpus linguistic research on persuasion can be categorized as either taking the linguistic form as the starting point (form-to-function) or the pragmatic function (function-to-form). In this article, we outline the key empirical work on the language of persuasion which draws on corpus linguistic data and methodologies.
