title = "Development needs of the osh-related risk management process: a companies{\textquoteright} viewpoint",
abstract = "Occupational safety and health (OSH) legislation, as well as OSH practitioners, generally consider the practices of risk management (RM) to be the foundation for OSH management in the workplace, and RM practices are commonly used in this setting. In practice, carrying out RM can be difficult. To ensure the effective improvement of RM practices, this paper examines the current development needs workplaces encounter in practice. Interviews (n = 46) were carried out in four large-scale Finnish enterprises operating in the manufacturing industry and facility services. The interviewees most often mentioned development needs related to the activity and competence of the persons involved in RM, and the process and tools used in RM. Companies would benefit from better descriptions and communication of the roles and responsibilities related to the RM process. It would be interesting to examine whether increased utilization of electronic systems can improve the success of OSH-related RM.",
