Abstract
Thermal spraying is one of the most versatile surface engineering techniques used to modify the surfaces of engineering components. For example, thermal spraying enables production of cost-effective hybrid material structures that improve the component performance, such as corrosion or wear resistance. In the present study, a commercial Cr3C2-37WC-18NiCoCrFe hardmetal powder was sprayed on a low carbon steel substrate with a novel high velocity air-fuel (HVAF) thermal spray process. The HVAF-sprayed Cr3C2-37WC-18NiCoCrFe coating was characterized by SEM, TEM, and XRD.
