Abstract

Prior information systems (IS) literature has argued the significance of data analytics capabilities (DAC) in business organizations for extracting the potential of data and data analytics. Organizational culture (OC) also plays an important role in the development of technology related capabilities in business organizations. However, there is a gap in IS literature with regards to the interplay between OC and DAC. i.e., the influence of OC on DAC and the influence of DAC on OC. Therefore, a qualitative study was conducted to examine the interplay between OC and DAC. The findings show that different value dimensions of OC influence the development of DAC in business organizations, and DAC also influences OC by making it data-driven. The study provides theoretical and practical contributions with regards to DAC development in business organizations from OC point of view.
