Research output: Other conference contributionScientific

Abstract

The heavy machinery industry is transitioning to electric mobile working machines due to increasing pressure to decarbonize. However, despite recent technological advancements in electric vehicles, mainstream adoption remains a challenge. The economic sustainability of these machines depends on innovative business models in addition to technological development. This study analyzed 684 documents from LexisNexis Academic in the mining industry using thematic content analysis. The results identified twelve sustainable business model initiatives, including carbon capture and utilization, carbon sequestering, net-zero certification, and impact investment PSS models. These initiatives offer solutions for the adaptation of electric mobile working machines in a decarbonized future.
