Abstract
The thermal-mechanical response of a steel-rubber-GFR epoxy hybrid material was studied in a wide range of strain rates using three different tensile loading methods. Thermal imaging up to 30,000 frames per second was done with Telops FAST-IR 1000 high speed infrared camera. The highest temperatures of over 300 C were observed during the necking of the austenitic stainless steel, and also the sudden disintegration of the glass fiber reinforced epoxy was found to lead to a notable temperature increase of several tens of degrees.
