Abstract

The authors describe the results obtained in a battery test study made at Telecom Finland. The purpose of the study was to find out how much information the middle point voltage of a battery string can contain about the capacity to perform, and when it can be used as a reliable basis for decision making. The signal used was the voltage deviation between a fixed reference voltage and the middle point voltage of a battery string. The reference voltage was derived from the total battery voltage by means of resistors.
