Abstract
Safety issues are typically afforded less attention when developing industrial services as compared to goods. At worst, this may result in accidents during service delivery. The interviews with four industrial service providers indicated that companies more advanced in service provision have established more systematic development practices. However, safety does not play a significant role in service development, both because of the nature of services developed and because of project teams’ lack of safety knowledge. In a novel merging of these domains, the paper makes a number of important observations about safety considerations during service development.
