Abstract
Storage battery is the most important and decisive component in Telecom DC UPS system determining its reliability and availability performance. The deployment of VRLA batteries into Telecom networks started the era of unbelievable problems and gradual deterioration of credibility. Battery monitoring and supervision has become a necessity and not just a way to boost reliability and availability. This paper presents the available methods to assess the state-of-health of VRLA batteries and their potentials in practical usage from the viewpoint of field experience.
