title = "The Moral Effects of Framing Eurovision News on Israel: Netta Barzilai, a Virtuous Singer Who Brought Victory to a Reprehensible Country",
abstract = "This chapter analyses the effects of framing on moral casting and political persuasiveness in online news articles concerning Israel{\textquoteright}s Eurovision victory in 2018. While the topic generally appeared in the cultural section, political themes were present in the publications. The three analysed articles were published in two prominent Finnish news sources, the Finnish Public Service Media Company and Helsingin Sanomat newspaper. Each article frames the same cultural event differently, creating distinctive scenes with morally charged constellations of actors. My study offers an example of how the news articles provide the readers with discursive portrayals of an arena where they themselves are situated in. The portrayals invite the readers to signify the news event in particular ways and position themselves morally in the dramaturgically varying scenes of emancipatory identity politics and controversial international politics.",
