Abstract
From March 2020, the outbreak of COVID-19 caused university closures all over the world and induced compulsory migration to remote teaching. The transition from one system to another came abruptly and the entire academic community had to react instantaneously to respond to the new circumstances. The potential and diversity of IoT transformed the modes of education by determining the interaction between faculty and students through digital platforms. This chapter discusses the role of IoT adoption in the teaching and learning process and demonstrates the encountered advancements and challenges of the sudden interruption by exploring the case of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
