Research visit to Prof. Kristen Bottema-Beutel's lab - ACER – Autistic Communication, Engagement and Relationship Lab, at Lynch School of Education and Human Development, Boston College. Dr Bottema-Beutel’s modes of inquiry overlap with the methods that I have currently applied in my work such as conversational analysis, micro-analytic, observational analysis, and we share the same understanding of the directions to which these methods should be developed. As a visiting scholar, I analyzed classroom datasets of ongoing projects, collaborated to develop a micro-analysis methods that specifically incorporates multimodal features of interactions, expanding the possibilities to investigate challenging social interactions such as the ones among children with typical and atypical development. I also had the opportunity to participate in weekly data analysis sessions at the ACER Lab, exchanging valuable inputs with prof. Bottema-Beutel and her team on my analytical method and data sets.
