I currently work as a Senior Research Fellow (Kone Foundation) in Literary Studies, and as the Director of Narrare: Centre for Interdisciplinary Narrative Studies at Tampere University, Finland. I hold a PhD in Literature, and the Title of Docent in Literature from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

My research focuses on the materiality and mediality of literature in print and in digital environments, especially from the following perspectives:

1. The contemporary Finnish experimental novel and short stories
2. The functions and value of the book object and the author
3. Fictional narrativizations of the concept of democracy

The topic of my doctoral thesis (University of Jyväskylä, 2020) was the experimental poetics of the contemporary Finnish novel Neuromaani by Jaakko Yli-Juonikas, with a particular focus on the materiality and paratextuality of the book object.

My areas of expertise include experimental literature avant-garde, poetics, the contemporary Finnish novel, digital culture, theories of transtextuality, new materialism, authorship studies, book studies, and intermediality in literature.
