Suvi Alaranta

The subject of my dissertation is examining the new bibliographic description and cataloguing practices. The topic is highly relevant, because metadata practices are currently undergoing a modification process and witnessing a significant period of transformation. A crucial period is caused by advancements in technology, more closely digitalization and innovative forms of information and publishing. The development of technology has made also a fundamental change to processing information for storage and retrieval. The objective of my dissertation is both to develop forward metadata research theory and supply practical solutions to concrete metadata production.
