Abstrakti
The ptresentation is devoted to the discursive element and yeah, which is new for the Russian language and is used both in dialogic and monologic speech as a means of "back channel". The semantics of the discourse element and yeah, its functional specificity in texts of different genres, its grammatical status, and paradigmatic relations are analysed (including in comparison with the English expression and yeah). The variability of punctuation design of and yeah in written texts is noted. The reasons for its spread in modern speech are expressed.
