Abstrakti

The focus of this paper is on the developed State Estimation (SE) algorithm used in edge-computing unit at primary substation. The paper will describe the operating principle of the algorithm and the possibilities for more efficient use of existing grids with implementation of a control system based on SE algorithm. The algorithm is utilizing real-time measurements at the substation and a few locations along the feeders and off-line smart meter data for more accurate load profiles. The implementation of autonomous edge-computing based SE and coordinated voltage control system was realized in parallel with the existing substation automation to enhance holistic system security. Objective of the implemented smart control system is to reduce the grid losses, enhance voltage quality, postpone network reinforcement needs and to increase the network hosting capacity for Distributed Generation (DG). SE is enabling solutions which are cost-effective yet accurate enough for real-time monitoring of the distribution grid.
