Abstrakti

Large-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems are extensively being integrated in a microgrid. The varying PV output may result in frequency deviation at the microgrid. The research provides an evaluation of how the optimal selection of PV orientations and spatial distribution can decrease frequency fluctuations of the microgrid. For the studies, microgrid with PV, synchronous generator (SG) and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) is modelled in an EMT-type software. The simulation studies further explain how different BESS response speeds affect the frequency fluctuations under different PV smoothing scenarios.
