Abstrakti
This chapter looks at how Business Intelligence (BI) can contribute to more responsible decision-making in today's data-driven organizations. It presents a conceptual framework based on data ethics, accountability, and stakeholder involvement, developed through a review of literature and real-world examples. The chapter discusses how BI tools can help detect bias, improve transparency, and support ethical practices, but also warns that BI is not neutral – its effects depend heavily on how it is governed. Without clear oversight, BI systems may reinforce inequality or erode trust. Case studies from sectors like finance, sustainability, and telecommunications show both the potential and the risks of BI use. The aim is to show that BI is not just about improving efficiency but can also support broader social and ethical goals if guided properly. The framework offers practical guidelines for aligning BI practices with values like fairness, inclusion, and regulatory responsibility.
