Summary This chapter shows the latest progress on directly red emitting semiconductor disk lasers, the generation of their second harmonic in the UV-A range, and the new concept of thermal management, where only the laser active region is and wiched between transparent heat spreaders - the membrane external-cavity surface-emitting laser (MECSEL).
